“He will play”: Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti acknowledges a significant injury boost.

Prior to Real Madrid’s opening game of the 2023–24 season against Athletic Bilbao, Courtois had an ACL injury during practice. In March, he experienced another knee issue.

More surgery was required as a result of the second problem, but the Belgium international has been improving his recuperation in recent weeks and has always expressed confidence in playing again before the season ends.

Courtois is expected to play this weekend against Cadiz, as Ancelotti announced last month. The Italian goalkeeper will start for the squad.

But according to the Real Madrid head coach, Andriy Lunin will return to the goalie for the next leg of the Champions League semifinal matchup against Bayern Munich.

On Saturday, Thibaut Courtois will play against Cadiz.

“Courtois is doing well. He will play tomorrow after a lengthy absence. That he’s returned, together with [Eder] Militao, is wonderful news. He’s fine, he’s enthusiastic, and he can contribute. During his news conference on Friday, Ancelotti expressed his happiness to the reporters.

“We intend to play Lunin in the final on Wednesday against Bayern. After that, we’ll see.”

Since joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2018, Courtois has made 230 appearances, including 49 appearances in all competitions in the 2022–2023 season.

The 31-year-old may now help Real Madrid win two more championships as they aim to win the Champions League and La Liga. He has already won eight titles during his tenure at Bernabeu.

On Saturday, Real Madrid may win La Liga.

When asked about the championship battle, Ancelotti responded, “The objective is very clear: add three points to get closer to winning this competition.”

“We only think about fulfilling our objective against a team that is fighting to avoid relegation, that arrives at the Bernabeu with desire and enthusiasm.”

In the race to stay in the division, Real Madrid leads the way at the moment, 11 points ahead of second-placed Barcelona, while Cadiz is in 18th position, five points behind 17th-placed Celta Vigo.

The lone player missing from the squad this weekend is David Alaba; Aurelien Tchouameni is healthy despite concerns about a foot issue.

Prior to their second leg of their Champions League semi-final matchup against Bayern, Ancelotti will make some changes.
