Who will Utah Hockey Club select at No. 6? Here’s what the mock draft experts think

The Utah Hockey Club will see action for the first time since moving from Arizona the following week.

NHL Draft will take place at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be broadcast on ESPN. Utah owns 12 draft picks total, including the 38th and 49th overall picks in the second round, in addition to the No. 6 pick in the first round.

Utah may be searching for a defense at the top of the roster with a strong scoring core in place that includes Lawson Crouse (23 goals, 19 assists), Logan Cooley (20 goals, 24 assists), Nick Schmaltz (22 goals, 39 assists), and Matias Maccelli (17 goals, 40 assists).

What they’re saying is, “I don’t think it’s much of a secret that Utah likes big guys.” They might target players like (Sam) Dickinson and (Carter) Yakemchuk at six because they also desperately need more defensive talent. Although Buium defends adequately, I can see them considering him as a six-man option because they also need someone who can lead a power play. It would also make sense for (Beckett) Sennecke to move forward in this situation. — Pronman/

What they’re saying: “The Sennecke talk is real, but Utah has some big needs, and I wouldn’t be stunned to see them address defense here. He’s had an amazing growth spurt throughout his OHL years, and he’s over six feet three. He also has excellent handles and scoring ability. Furthermore, he’s still learning how to make the most of his larger size, and the best seems to be ahead of him.
