REPORT: Jeremiah Smith’s Potential Was Captured in One Word by Will Howard

According to Nick Schultz of On3 Sports, Will Howard had a lot to say about Ohio State Buckeyes freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Howard is entering his first season in Columbus following his transfer from the Kansas State Wildcats. During his final season with Kansas State, Howard amassed a career-high 2,643 throwing yards and 33 total touchdowns.

Speaking at the Manning Passing Academy recently, Howard shared his delight about working with the talented wideout.

The Ohio State quarterback even predicted that Smith would be “special.”

“Pretty unbelievable,” Howard said. “That true freshman, Jeremiah Smith, he’s gonna be special, man. Between him, Emeka [Egbuka], Carnell [Tate], those three are probably the featured guys.”

Smith was a former five-star wide receiver who was a member of the 2024 class. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Smith was the best receiver, recruit, and overall prospect coming out of Florida.

High-caliber receivers have been produced by Ohio State in the past. Terry McLaurin, Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Garrett Wilson are recent players.

The Buckeyes had an 11-2 record at the end of the 2023 campaign. This season, Ohio State will try to end a three-game losing streak versus the Michigan Wolverines.

On August 31, Ohio State takes on the Akron Zips in the 2024 season opener broadcast on CBS.
