Some of the biggest names in the NBA will compete in the basketball tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks will not be one of them.

After losing to Greece 96-68 in the semifinals of the Olympic qualification competition, Doncic and Slovenia were unable to earn their spot in Paris. Greece will now play Croatia in the final, with the victor securing an Olympic slot.

Doncic, who finished with a game-high 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, gave it everything he had to keep Slovenia in the contest. This was insufficient, though, as Greece was able to establish and maintain an early advantage. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time NBA MVP, led Greece with 13 points, four rebounds, and a dominant defensive game.

They outplayed us in every game. They were far more combative, according to Doncic. “I believe their team is outstanding. They obviously have Giannis. However, other components are also crucial to them. They also have excellent coaching. .. They were superior to us today. Slovenia is quite disappointed that they were unable to make it to the Olympics, especially after placing fourth in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
