JUST IN: An All-Star Futures Game will feature two Mariners prospects.

Cole Young, a shortstop prospect for the Seattle Mariners, and Harry Ford, a catcher, were selected to the All-Star Futures Game roster on Tuesday.

As part of All-Star Week events, Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas will host the yearly exhibition of baseball’s finest prospects on July 13. July 16 is MLB All-Star Game day.

Known for his consistent plate discipline and fluid left-handed swing, Young was selected as the No. 21 overall choice in the 2022 high school draft. The 20-year-old shortstop is currently batting at Double-A Arkansas after making the jump.in 69 games this season, batting 265/.358/.392 with seven home runs, thirteen doubles, and thirteen stolen bases.

Ford participated in the Futures Game at T-Mobile Park in Seattle the previous year, so this will be his second trip to the game. The No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 draft went to the 21-year-old catcher, who was also selected out of high school. In 71 games, he has five home runs, two triples, and fourteen doubles while hitting.253/.372/.377. He is fourth in the Texas League with 21 stolen bases and seventh with a 13.9% walk rate. He is well-known for having an uncommon level of speed for a catcher and good plate discipline.

Young is rated as the No. 23 overall prospect by MLB.com and the No. 37 overall prospect by Baseball America. Ford is ranked No. 24 overall by MLB.com and No. 47 overall by Baseball America. In the Futures Game, Adrián Beltré, a former third baseman for the Mariners, will manage the American League squad. On July 21, Beltré, who spent five seasons playing for Seattle from 2005 to 2009, will be admitted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
