BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal and Chelsea Battle for €70m Striker After Cut-Price Deal Emerges

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Chelsea are once again after Viktor Gyokeres. This comes after the Swedish striker’s incredible debut season in Portugal, where he scored 43 goals and dishevelled 15 assists in 50 games for Sporting CP. Naturally, such excellent numbers garner attention, but one major obstacle to any possible transfer has been the cost.

The first season of Gyokeres in Portugal was just amazing. After moving from Coventry City to Sporting CP, the 26-year-old built a name for himself and became recognised as one of the best forwards in Europe. His 43 goals in 50 games played, along with 15 assists, demonstrate his versatility as an attacker.

Even with these figures, prospective clubs found his contract’s substantial €100 million release clause to be a major roadblock. Gyokeres was being watched by both Arsenal and Chelsea, but their early interest was stifled by the high price needed to buy him.

Gyokeres has once again drawn interest from Arsenal and Chelsea during the current transfer window. Arsenal turned their attention to other positions after losing out on Benjamin Sesko, but they still need a productive centre forward. Chelsea still believes that having a reliable No. 9 in their lineup would be beneficial, even after adding young players like Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu. But before adding anyone else, they must decide what will happen to Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are still looking for a center-forward, but they aren’t rushing to add players only to fill the roster, according to TBR Football. This suggests that they handle transfers strategically, making sure that every new recruit blends in nicely with their current tactical configuration.
