Singapore – Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell encountered overheating problems during the intense heat of the Singapore Grand Prix, leading to a challenging race and forcing both to skip their post-race media duties.
The tropical climate of Singapore, notorious for its high temperatures and humidity, pushed both drivers and their cars to the limit. Despite their best efforts, both Hamilton and Russell struggled with overheating issues throughout the race, affecting their performance and focus on the demanding Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, finished the race in a competitive position but admitted post-race that the conditions had taken a significant toll on the team’s overall strategy. George Russell, meanwhile, faced similar struggles, with both drivers battling to keep their cars cool under the relentless Singapore sun.
The duo’s absence from post-race media duties raised some eyebrows, but Mercedes quickly explained that the decision was made to prioritize the health and well-being of the drivers, given the physically taxing nature of the event.
Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff acknowledged the difficulties, saying, “Singapore is always one of the toughest races of the season, and today was no exception. Both Lewis and George gave everything, but the overheating issues were a major challenge. We decided to focus on their recovery after such a grueling race.”
The Mercedes team now turns its attention to addressing these issues as they prepare for the upcoming races in the championship, hoping to bounce back stronger after a tough weekend in Singapore.
