Tempe, AZ – In a move that solidifies his position as one of the top young coaches in college football, Kenny Dillingham has been rewarded with a 5-year contract extension by the Arizona State University Sun Devils. The new deal, which runs through the 2028 season, is a testament to Dillingham’s leadership, vision, and commitment to the program.
Dillingham, who took over as head coach of the Sun Devils in 2023, has made a significant impact on the program in a short amount of time.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including a difficult schedule and a roster depleted by injuries, Dillingham led the Sun Devils to a 7-5 record in his first season, including a 4-4 mark in Pac-12 play.
“Kenny Dillingham has been a game-changer for our program,” said ASU athletic director Ray Anderson.
“His leadership, expertise, and passion for the game have inspired our players and revitalized our fan base. We’re thrilled to have him leading our program for years to come.”
Dillingham’s contract extension is a significant investment by the university, but it’s one that Anderson believes is well worth it.
“Coach Dillingham has proven himself to be one of the top young coaches in college football,” Anderson said. “We’re committed to providing him with the resources he needs to succeed, and this contract extension is a reflection of that commitment.”
Dillingham’s new deal includes a significant raise, with his annual salary increasing from $2.5 million to $5.5 million.
The contract also includes a number of incentives, including bonuses for winning the Pac-12 championship, making the College Football Playoff, and winning the national championship.
“I’m grateful to Ray Anderson and the university for their commitment to our program,” Dillingham said. “I’m excited to continue building on the progress we’ve made and competing for championships in the years to come.
This contract extension is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches, and staff, and I’m honored to be a part of this program.”
Dillingham’s contract extension is a major coup for the ASU Sun Devils, who are looking to establish themselves as a perennial powerhouse in the Pac-12. With Dillingham at the helm, the Sun Devils are well-positioned to compete for championships in the years to come.
