Fayetteville, AR – In a move that solidifies his position as one of the top coaches in the Southeastern Conference, Sam Pittman has signed a contract extension with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The new deal, which runs through the 2028 season, is worth a staggering $89 million over five years.
Pittman, who took over as head coach of the Razorbacks in December 2019, has led the team to significant improvement in his first three seasons. The Razorbacks finished the 2022 season with a 7-6 record, including a 3-5 mark in SEC play.
“Sam Pittman has been a game-changer for our program,” said Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek. “His leadership, expertise, and passion for the game have inspired our players and revitalized our fan base. We’re thrilled to have him leading our program for years to come.”
Pittman’s contract extension is a significant investment by the university, but it’s one that Yurachek believes is well worth it.
“Coach Pittman has proven himself to be one of the top coaches in the SEC,” Yurachek said. “We’re committed to providing him with the resources he needs to succeed, and this contract extension is a reflection of that commitment.”
Pittman’s new deal includes a significant raise, with his annual salary increasing from $3.5 million to $17.8 million. The contract also includes a number of incentives, including bonuses for winning the SEC championship, making the College Football Playoff, and winning the national championship.
“I’m grateful to Hunter Yurachek and the university for their commitment to our program,” Pittman said. “I’m excited to continue building on the progress we’ve made and competing for championships in the years to come.”
Pittman’s contract extension is a major coup for the Arkansas Razorbacks, who are looking to establish themselves as a perennial powerhouse in the SEC. With Pittman at the helm, the Razorbacks are well-positioned to compete for championships in the years to come.
