A 4-star recruit Kon Knueppel, a 7-foot-2, 250-pound guard, has decommitted from Duke University’s basketball program and pledged his allegiance to the Indiana Hoosiers.
Knueppel, from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, was initially considered one of the crown jewels of Duke’s 2024 recruiting class. However, after a recent official visit to Bloomington, he reversed course, citing Indiana’s rich basketball tradition and proximity to home as decisive factors.
“I’m thrilled to join the Hoosier family,” Knueppel exclaimed. “Indiana’s basketball legacy and passionate fans are unmatched. Being closer to home allows my family to support me every step of the way.”
The highly touted guard’s commitment significantly bolsters Indiana’s frontcourt, providing a unique blend of size, skill, and athleticism.
“Kon is an exceptional talent with enormous potential,” said Indiana Head Coach Mike Woodson. “We’re ecstatic to welcome him to our program. His size, versatility, and work ethic will undoubtedly elevate our team.”
Knueppel’s decision marks a major recruiting victory for Woodson and his staff, who have prioritized securing top Midwestern talent. This coup demonstrates Indiana’s growing momentum on the recruiting trail.

Duke’s loss is Indiana’s gain, as Knueppel’s departure leaves a void in the Blue Devils’ frontcourt. Coach Jon Scheyer will need to reassess his recruiting strategy.
