Alabama Crimson Tide star safety Malachi Moore has announced his intention to return to Tuscaloosa for his senior season, forgoing the 2025 NFL Draft. Just weeks after declaring his eligibility for the professional league, Moore cited a desire to further develop his skills and leave a lasting legacy at his alma mater as his primary motivations for returning.
“This wasn’t an easy decision,” Moore admitted in a press conference. “The NFL has always been a dream, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue it. But after careful consideration, I realized there’s still more I want to accomplish here at Alabama.”
Moore’s impact on the Crimson Tide defense has been undeniable. A true freshman starter in 2020, he quickly established himself as a playmaker, earning First-Team All-SEC honors in 2024.
His leadership and on-field contributions have been invaluable to the team’s success, and his return is a significant boost for the Crimson Tide’s defensive aspirations in 2025.
“Malachi is a special player,” said Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer. “He’s a tremendous talent, but more importantly, he’s a fantastic leader. His decision to return speaks volumes about his character and his commitment to this program. We’re thrilled to have him back.”
Moore’s return will provide a much-needed anchor to a secondary that is expected to lose several key contributors to graduation. His experience and leadership will be invaluable in guiding a younger group of defensive backs, while his playmaking ability will continue to be a major asset on the field.
“I want to leave a lasting impact on this program,” Moore explained. “I want to help mentor the younger guys, and I want to win another national championship. There’s unfinished business here, and I’m excited to get back to work.”
Moore’s decision is a testament to his dedication to Alabama and his desire to achieve greatness both on and off the field. His return will undoubtedly make the Crimson Tide a stronger contender in 2025 season, and it will be exciting to watch him continue to develop his skills and leave his mark on one of college football’s most storied programs.
