JUST IN: Mike Gundy Announces Possible Replacements as He prepares for His…

During his Monday press conference, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy shared his opinions on the possible addition of a commissioner. Additionally, Gundy brought up two well-known names that might be possibilities.

“You know, Coach Brown in North Carolina when he retires, Coach Saban, that’s your football commissioner,” Gundy said. “That’s Roger Goodell for us, in my opinion. Because he knows what he’s doing, he gets it. But in that situation, the reason that’s being driven that way is because of money.”

Gundy mentioned Mack Brown, the head coach of North Carolina, and Nick Saban, the former head coach of Alabama.

The Oklahoma State football coach also went into great length about the reasons why collegiate football needs a commissioner.

Gundy declared, “College football needs a commissioner.” The regulations pertaining to recruiting, non-compete agreements, pay caps, employment contracts, transfers, and other matters need to be enforced by a football oversight rules committee that will adhere to the NFL model.

However, Gundy offered two choices for the position of college football commissioner, and considering their backgrounds in the game, Brown and Saban would be excellent choices should they choose to make that move.

It’s unclear if Saban or Brown would be interested, but it might greatly benefit the sport.
