Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola has been one of the best freshmen in the entire country this season, and he’s now getting some recognition for his efforts.
The former five-star recruit was officially named a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award by the Maxwell Football Club.
In nine games this season, Raiola has thrown for 1,921 yards and 10 touchdowns while completing 64.7% of his passes. His average of 213.4 passing yards per game is the most by a freshman quarterback in the country, and he’s second in completion percentage and passing touchdowns.
Despite some recent struggles – he’s thrown 5 interceptions vs. 1 touchdown over the past four games – Raiola and the Huskers have a chance to strengthen his case for the award with a final strong month of play.
Finalists for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award will be revealed on Dec. 4, with the winner announced on Dec. 26.
