For the second consecutive day, Miami lost a four-star prospect from the 2025 class with linebacker Gavin Nix flipping to Oregon. Four-star safety Hylton Stubbs flipped to Florida on Monday. Miami has 21 commits and is 13th in the 247Sports composite rankings the the Early National Signing Period beginning on Monday.
Nix is the 239th prospect, 26th LB and 35th player in Florida in the 2025 Class out of IMG Academy in Bradenton. Nix previously attended Lake Highland Prep in Orlando before matriculating at IMG Academy. Three-star prospect Ezekiel Marcellin is the only LB remaining in the 2025 Miami class.
In addition to Nix and Stubbs, Miami is also projected to lose three-star cornerback prospect Timothy Merritt in the 2025 class. There are no flips projected in favor of Miami less than 24 hours before the Early National Signing Period commences on Wednesday.
The flip by Nix from Miami to Oregon after he took an unofficial visit to Eugene in late November per John Garcia of Rivals.Com. Nix’s father Patrick told Garcia it is all about getting to the next level. Shaquille Quarterman who was selected by Jacksonville in the fourth round in 2020 is the only Miami LB drafted since 2015.
