Arizona State Sun Devils head coach Kenny Dillingham issued a public apology for his critical comments toward the team’s kickers following Saturday’s loss to USC.
I was out of line and unfairly singled out our kickers, Dillingham said. My emotions got the best of me, and I apologize for my actions.
Our kicking game is a disaster..We can’t make an extra point, can’t make a field goal. It’s unacceptable.
I understand Coach’s frustration, but we’re working hard to improve. We appreciate his support.
Sun Devils quarterback, Emory Jones, defended the kickers:
Our kickers are part of our team. We win and lose together.
Coaches must balance passion with composure, said ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit. Dillingham’s apology shows accountability.
ASU Athletic Director, Ray Anderson, supported Dillingham’s apology:
Coach Dillingham demonstrated maturity by owning his mistake…
