Top Secrets about Tennessee Football as they meet Arkansas tonight….

After a week off, Tennessee football will travel to another SEC game. For the second consecutive game, the Vols are slated to travel for a primetime road game. The Vols will try to duplicate their impressive performance from their most recent road victory over Oklahoma.

The Sooners’ attack was neutralized by the Vols’ defense, which even forced a quarterback swap as they won. The Vols were playing more preventive defense in the fourth quarter because the game was already out of hand, and Oklahoma only scored touchdowns in that quarter.

Tennessee’s offense also pulled back in the second half as Josh Heupel leaned on his defense, which showed his maturity as a head coach. He may not have done that in previous years, but he continued to try to stretch the field and take shots while holding a big lead.

The Vols will be healthy and ready to take on an underrated Arkansas squad that is a lot better than their 3-2 record. The Razorbacks could very easily be 5-0 this year, and they will look to use this game as a statement game against the Vols.

Past Matches

When Tennessee and Arkansas first met in 1907, they have played 19 times. The game was won 14–2 by the Vols. The Vols won that game as well. The two programs did not play each other again until 1972.

It wasn’t until 1990, when Arkansas joined the Southeastern Conference that the Vols and Razorbacks began playing more often. They met 12 of the next 13 seasons, and the Vols dominated the series, winning all but two of those games.

They didn’t meet again until 2006, and it’s been all Razorbacks since then. Arkansas has won four of the last five matchups, including the most recent game in 2020, which the Razorbacks won 24-13. Arkansas holds a three-game win streak, but the Vols hold the series lead 13 wins to six.

Sports Lines
As of this writing, Tennessee is a 13.5-point favorite, and the over/under is set at 57.5 points. If the oddsmakers are correct, Tennessee might win 35–21 based on those odds.
